Beat Your Fear of Ultrasound

5 Ways to Overcome Your Ultrasound Fears

Pregnancy is a whole new ride. You never see all the bumps coming in until you are right at the curve! Sometimes, it becomes all too hard for you to handle.

Ultrasound which is a very common procedure during pregnancy can be quite intimidating if you are not prepared for it! After all, many of us don’t spend too much time at the doctor’s.

However, pregnant women have multiple visits during their entire term, usually accompanied with ultrasounds. Just so it doesn’t scare you too much or until you get used to it, you need to figure out how to overcome your ultrasound fear.

Let’s take a look at some of the tested ways to help you achieve that objective.

  • Keep Yourself Calm

The key is to remain calm. If you think too much or freak out at little incidences then you will surely spook yourself. The best thing to do is to stay calm throughout.

One of the best ways you can do that is by listening to soothing music to get your nerves under control. Research shows that listening to soothing music has amazing effects on expecting moms.

  • Take Counsel from an Experienced Person

Ask someone who knows! That’s the rule when it comes to all-thing related to pregnancy. If you have a relative or friend who has been pregnant before you, be sure to consult with them before going for your ultrasound.

They will be able to share their personal experiences with you. It will give you an idea of what happens if it is your first ultrasound. It can also help calm your nerves.

  • Urinate before You Go into the Clinic

Sometimes your ultrasound doesn’t show right when you have a full bladder. The best thing to do in such a scenario is to urinate before you go for an ultrasound. It controls your nerves as you won’t have to go pee right when they lay you down for an examination!

  • Strictly Follow the Doctor’s Advice

Become a rigid follower of your doctor’s advice. If he says you breathe, you breathe, if he says you don’t, you don’t! Sometimes, following orders is the easiest way to do things. You just have to pay attention to your doctor’s advice and make sure you don’t leave anything out.

  • Make Ultrasound Fun!
